Terms
Civvie is a free, nonpartisan civic tool. There's no account to sign up for and nothing to buy, so these terms are short. They explain what Civvie is, what we can and can't promise about the answers, and how you're welcome to use it.
What Civvie is
Civvie shows how the members of Congress who represent you voted, and what executive actions were taken, on the issues you ask about. It draws every fact from official public records and links each claim back to its source. It's built to inform you. It doesn't tell you how to vote, and it doesn't act on your behalf.
Accuracy, and its limits
Every fact in Civvie comes from a primary source — Congress.gov, GovInfo, the Federal Register, the CBO, and the JCT — and every vote claim is automatically checked against the official record before you see it. We work hard to get it right. But we can't guarantee zero errors: source records can contain mistakes, votes and statuses get revised, and the AI-written summary can occasionally misstate something. Before you rely on any single fact, follow the citation and check the primary source. Civvie is not legal, financial, or voting advice.
Using Civvie
Read it, share it, quote it, link to it — that's what it's for. We just ask that you don't use it to break the law, don't try to disrupt or overload the service, and don't pass its answers off as official or as something they aren't. Automated reading by search engines and AI assistants is welcome; that's how people find civic information now.
Where the content comes from
The underlying facts are public records — nobody owns how a member of Congress voted. What Civvie adds is the plain-language writing, the design, and the way it organizes and explains the record. If you quote Civvie, attribute it; please don't republish it wholesale as your own work.
No warranty
Civvie is provided as is, without warranties of any kind. It's an independent civic project, not a guarantor of any outcome. To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for decisions made based on what you read here — which is the same reason we link every claim back to its source, so you can always verify.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, we'll update the date at the top and note what changed.
