Sponsored by John Kennedy (R)
A joint resolution providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management relating to "Protection of Marine Archaeological Resources".
Cancels a rule requiring oil and gas companies to report archaeological findings.
Tradeoff
Eliminates a requirement that oil and gas lessees submit archaeological reports to the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) before drilling on the Outer Continental Shelf. Returns to the prior rule, which let BOEM request reports only if a regional director suspected archaeological resources were present.
