Hershel ‘Woody' Williams National Medal of Honor Monument Location Act
Requires a National Medal of Honor Monument to be built on the National Mall.
Tradeoff
Places a new monument honoring Medal of Honor recipients within the most prominent federal land in Washington, DC, overriding a prior rule that blocked new monuments there.
What's in it
No significant federal cost over the 2026-2031 period; any implementation costs estimated at less than $500,000.
This is a location-authorization bill with negligible federal costs to administer; the policy's real impact is permitting the Monument Foundation to build on a specific federal site rather than elsewhere in D.C.
The Senate passed this by on March 25, 2026. The House passed it by on August 31, 2026, and it was signed into law on September 10, 2026.
