Moving Americans Privacy Protection Act

Would have required Customs to strip and passport numbers from ship and plane manifests before the public can see them.

Tradeoff

Would have hidden personal identifiers like and passport numbers in public cargo and passenger manifests. Would have taken effect 30 days after enactment, with a narrow exception for national security.
