Technical Corrections to the Northwestern New Mexico Rural Water Projects Act, Taos Pueblo Indian Water Rights Settlement Act, and Aamodt Litigation Settlement Act
Authorizes about $18.5 million in unpaid interest deposits to three Native American water settlement trust funds.
Tradeoff
Sets aside federal money to pay accumulated interest on water development funds established under 2009–2010 settlement agreements. The deposits correct an oversight in the original settlements that did not account for interest accrual.
What's in it
Adds $18 million to federal spending over 2025-2035, with $1 million in outlays in 2025 and the remainder over subsequent years.
This $18 million funds three trust accounts for water development projects benefiting Native American tribes and pueblos in New Mexico, with the money distributed as over the period rather than as a lump sum.
