Tribal Forest Protection Act Amendments Act of 2024
Would have renewed the Tribal Forest Protection Act (TFPA) through 2030 and let Alaska Native corporations join forest projects.
Tradeoff
Would have let tribes run forest projects on their own land, not only on nearby federal land. Would have authorized $15 million a year for 2025 through 2030.
What's in it
Costs $68 million to implement over 2025-2029, based on authorizing $15 million per year for 2025-2030.
This funds tribal forest protection projects on federal land, with the $68 million covering about five years of program operations and tribal-led work through 2029.
