Veterinary Services to Improve Public Health in Rural Communities Act
Would have let the Indian Health Service (IHS) fund animal disease work in tribal communities.
Tradeoff
Would have let the Indian Health Service (IHS) pay for animal disease prevention and vaccination in tribal areas. Would also have required a federal study of rabies vaccines for wildlife in Arctic regions.
What's in it
CBO estimates no effect on direct spending or revenues; it has not estimated the bill's effect on discretionary spending.
The bill authorizes to spend money on veterinary disease control, but no dollar amount is given because the actual cost depends on future that CBO has not estimated.
The bill expired when the 118th Congress ended. The Senate passed it by on December 12, 2024. The House never voted on it.
