MAP for Broadband Funding Act
Requires the FCC to modernize the federal Broadband Funding Map and report on its management.
Tradeoff
Mandates FCC review of how well the map documents federally funded broadband projects. No direct spending or revenue change.
What's in it
Federal cost is negligible; any spending subject to would be less than $500,000 over the 2026-2036 period.
The $500,000 or less is just the federal administrative cost to implement the data-collection and study requirements — the policy's real burden falls on private telecommunications companies that may pay slightly higher FCC regulatory fees to offset the FCC's implementation costs, though CBO estimates this incremental fee increase would be small and below the $214 million private-sector mandate threshold.
