Eliminate Useless Reports Act of 2023
Would have required agencies to list outdated or duplicative reports in their yearly budget requests.
Tradeoff
Would have required agencies to recommend ending, merging, or reducing how often duplicative reports are sent to Congress. Would have made the Office of Management and Budget review reports that two or more agencies must submit.
What's in it
The Senate passed it by in December 2023, and the House passed it by in May 2024. The Senate then approved its changes 91-3 on July 30, 2024, and the bill expired before the House acted again. Note: the bill text below describes online child-safety rules, which does not match the report-cutting summary, so check the official text.
