Sponsored by Susan M. Collins (R)
District of Columbia Local Funds Act, 2025
Approves the District of Columbia's local budget for 2025.
Tradeoff
Congress grants the District spending authority for programs in its budget. The District must stay within its total revenues unless it uses one-time funds for emergencies.
What's in it
No effect on the federal budget over all measured periods (2025, 2025-2030, 2025-2035).
This bill is a procedural approval mechanism with no federal cost—it allows D.C. to spend money it has already collected locally, rather than being a federal of taxpayer dollars.
Passed the Senate by on March 14, 2025 — sitting in the House.
