Protecting American Agriculture from Foreign Adversaries Act of 2024
Would have added the Agriculture Secretary to national security reviews of farmland deals with four adversary nations.
Tradeoff
Would have required national security checks on farmland bought by foreign buyers from China, Russia, Iran, or North Korea. Would have let refer these deals to the federal review committee.

The House passed this 269-149 on September 11, 2024, after rejecting a motion to send it back 203-213. The Senate never voted on it before the 118th Congress ended, so the bill expired.
