Northeast Lobsterman Protection Act of 2026
Delays whale-protection fishing regulations from 2028 to 2035.
Tradeoff
Gives lobster and crab fisheries seven more years before they must adopt new gear to reduce whale entanglement. Environmental groups say the delay risks endangered Atlantic large whales; the fishing industry says it needs more time to adapt.
