Sponsored by Eric A. "Rick" Crawford (R)
To amend the FISA Amendments Act of 2008 to extend the authorities of title VII of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978, and for other purposes.
Would extend federal surveillance authorities under FISA Section 702 until July 2, 2026.
Tradeoff
Extends the ability to conduct surveillance on foreign targets and incidentally collect communications of U.S. persons. Does not change what the government can do under existing law — only delays a sunset date.
