Removing Barriers to Work for Disabled Americans Act
Extends disability work-test demonstrations through 2031 with stronger worker protections.
Tradeoff
Lets the Administration (SSA) continue testing new work incentives for disabled workers. Requires SSA to give Congress 120 days' notice before starting a test and to guarantee participants' total income won't drop.
What's in it
Adds $69 million to the deficit over 11 years (2026-2036): $7 million in direct spending plus $62 million in spending.
This funds Administration demonstration projects testing changes to disability program rules and eligibility to encourage disabled beneficiaries to return to work, with most cost ($62 million) requiring annual Congressional and a small portion ($7 million) as direct spending.
