Swanson and Hugh Butler Reservoirs Land Conveyances Act
Lets Nebraska counties take over federal cabin and resort land at two reservoirs, if they pay fair market value.
Tradeoff
Transfers federal cabin and concession land at Swanson and Hugh Butler reservoirs to Hitchcock and Frontier counties. The counties must pay fair market value and cover all conveyance costs up front.
What's in it
Reduces direct spending by $1 million, on net, over 2025-2034 through land sale proceeds to BOR.
The bill is a land sale rather than a tax change: the counties pay about $1 million, which is recorded as lower federal spending because BOR loses future rental-type receipts it could otherwise spend without .
The House passed this by on December 5, 2024. The Senate passed it by on December 16, 2024. President Biden signed it into law in December 2024.
