Sponsored by Brian J. Mast (R)
To authorize the Secretary of State to designate additional persons eligible to serve as passport acceptance agents, and for other purposes.
Would have let the State Department add more passport helpers and set passports to expire on the holder's birthday.
Tradeoff
Would have expanded companies that carry passport applications for faster processing and added more people allowed to accept applications. Would have set new passports to expire on the holder's birthday instead of a fixed term.
