Lahaina National Heritage Area Study Act
Directs the National Park Service to study whether Lahaina, Hawaii, should become a National Heritage Area.
Tradeoff
The law orders a study only. It does not designate Lahaina as a National Heritage Area.
What's in it
Increases discretionary spending by less than $500,000 over 2025-2029, with no effect on direct spending or revenues.
The under-$500,000 figure is the federal cost of a Park Service study and report on whether Lahaina should become a National Heritage Area, not the cost of building or operating one.
The House passed this 378-25 on December 4, 2024. The Senate passed it by on December 16, 2024. It was signed into law.
