Modernizing the Congressional Research Service’s Access to Data Act
Would have let the Congressional Research Service (CRS) pull records directly from federal agencies for congressional requests.
Tradeoff
Would have let CRS, Congress's research arm, demand records directly from executive agencies and commissions. CRS staff would face the same penalties for leaking that agency data.
