Special District Grant Accessibility Act
Would have required OMB to clarify when special districts qualify for federal grants and loans.
Tradeoff
Would have required OMB to explain how special districts qualify for federal grants. Would have required agencies to change their rules within one year after that.
What's in it
Costs less than $500,000 to implement over 2025-2029, with no effect on direct spending or revenues.
The under $500,000 figure is just the federal cost of OMB writing the guidance, while the real effect is that special districts may now qualify for federal grants they previously could not get.
The House passed this bill 352-27 on May 6, 2024. The Senate never voted on it before the Congress ended.
