Sponsored by Michelle Steel (R)
To amend the Energy Policy Act of 2005 to expedite geothermal exploration and development in previously studied or developed areas.
Would have sped up environmental reviews for some geothermal drilling on land already studied or drilled.
Tradeoff
Would have let geothermal wells skip a full environmental review where drilling happened in the prior five years. Would have treated geothermal drilling like oil and gas drilling for these reviews.
