Airport Regulatory Relief Act of 2025
Lets smaller airports use state highway standards instead of federal standards for pavement projects.
Tradeoff
Reduces FAA review requirements for pavement at nonprimary commercial airports. The FAA must still verify the standards won't harm safety, but no longer has to check if pavement will last as long.
What's in it
No significant cost or savings; negligible effect on federal spending and deficit over the budget window.
This is a regulatory streamlining bill with no federal cost — the FAA enforcement burden is minimal, and the real impact is on nonprimary airports, which gain the flexibility to use state pavement standards instead of federal standards without affecting the total federal grant pool.
