Home School Graduation Recognition Act
Counts home school graduates as high school graduates for federal student aid.
Tradeoff
Expands eligibility for federal student aid to include home school students recognized under state law. No offsetting cost or restriction identified in the bill.
What's in it
Less than $500,000 in federal cost over the 2026–2036 period.
The less-than-$500,000 figure is only the federal administrative cost to clarify the definition in law—the policy's real effect is to remove a potential eligibility barrier that a small number of post-secondary schools may currently impose on homeschooled students seeking federal aid.
