USE IT Act of 2023
Would have required federal agencies to measure office use and return underused leased space.
Tradeoff
Would have required agencies to return leased office space used less than 60% of the time. Would have required sensors and reports on how buildings are used, with GAO reporting on the costs.
What's in it
The House passed the bill 217-203 on March 12, 2024, after a motion to send it back to committee failed 206-213. The Senate never voted on it before the Congress ended, so the bill expired.
