Awning Safety Act of 2023
Would have required a federal safety standard for retractable awnings to prevent deaths and serious injuries.
Tradeoff
Would have required the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to write a safety standard for retractable awnings within 18 months. Would have covered awnings that open unexpectedly and hit people.
