Post-Disaster Reforestation and Restoration Act of 2025
Directs the Interior Department to identify federal lands needing reforestation after disasters and fund restoration projects.
Tradeoff
Requires the Interior Department to map and restore forests on federal lands damaged by wildfires, pests, and storms. The bill does not specify funding amounts or sources.
What's in it
Costs $1 million over 2026–2031 for administrative and reporting activities.
The $1 million is just the federal administrative cost to manage the program and report to Congress—the real policy impact is that the Department of Interior gains explicit authority to implement post-disaster reforestation projects on federal and Indian lands using existing and future funds.
