Sponsored by David Rouzer (R)
To amend the Coastal Barrier Resources Act to create an exemption for certain shoreline borrow sites.
Would have let federal projects take sand from protected coastal areas to rebuild nearby beaches.
Tradeoff
Would have let federal money fund taking sand from Coastal Barrier Resources System (CBRS) areas. Those areas normally bar federal spending, and the exemption covered only past emergency beach repairs.
