Kari's Law Reporting Act
Requires the FCC to report on whether phone systems comply with Kari's Law.
Tradeoff
Orders a federal study of emergency-call compliance by phone manufacturers. No direct costs or offsetting cuts.
What's in it
Costs $1.2 million over five years (2026-2030) for FCC enforcement activities.
The $1.2 million is just the federal cost for the FCC to report and enforce an existing law—the real compliance burden falls on telephone system manufacturers and sellers who must preconfigure systems to allow direct 911 dialing.
