Sponsored by Andrew S. Clyde (R)
Common-Sense Law Enforcement and Accountability Now in DC Act of 2025
Repeals most of DC's 2022 police reform law, restoring prior policing rules.
Tradeoff
Eliminates DC police restrictions on neck restraints, body-camera procedures, and access to disciplinary records. Keeps two narrower sections of the 2022 law in place.
What's in it
No federal cost.
This bill repeals local restrictions on the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C.; it has no federal spending or revenue impact because it only changes D.C. law, though the policy's effects will fall on the D.C. police department and residents.
Passed the House 233-190 on November 19, 2025 — now in the Senate.
