Make the District of Columbia Safe and Beautiful Act of 2025
Creates a commission to address DC crime and immigration enforcement, and establishes a cleaning program for DC monuments and parks.
Tradeoff
Sets up a federal task force focused on immigration enforcement and public safety in DC. The commission and cleaning program both expire January 2, 2029.
What's in it
Costs are insignificant over the 2026-2030 period.
The federal cost to establish and operate the commission and beautification program is negligible; the policy's real impact is the creation of new executive authority to enforce existing federal and local laws and undertake beautification in Washington, D.C., with authority expiring January 2, 2029.
