FAST VETS Act
Requires VA to redevelop job-training plans for veterans when their disabilities change.
Tradeoff
Adds a requirement for the VA to revisit and update vocational rehabilitation plans for veterans with service-connected disabilities when their employment prospects shift. No funding change or offset specified in the bill.
What's in it
Changes direct spending by less than $500,000 over the 2025-2035 period (net effect between negative $500K and positive $500K).
This is primarily a regulatory change to how the VA amends vocational rehabilitation plans for veterans; the near-zero federal cost reflects only the minor administrative impact of the process change, while the policy's real effect is on how veterans' rehabilitation services are tailored and delivered.
Passed the House by on September 15, 2025. Passed the Senate by on December 18, 2025, then signed into law.
