Small Cemetery Conveyance Act
Lets the Forest Service give cemeteries on federal land to states, tribes, and local governments.
Tradeoff
Transfers cemetery land from federal to local control at no cost. The land must stay a cemetery or revert to the government.
What's in it
Costs $1 million over 2026-2031 for administrative expenses of conveying cemetery lands, with negligible effect on net direct spending.
The $1 million is the federal administrative cost to process and convey the cemetery lands; the policy's real impact is that state, local, and tribal entities receive free National Forest lands previously paid for, eliminating modest annual permit fees under current law.
