Systemic Risk Authority Transparency Act
Requires banking regulators to report to Congress within 90 days of any bank failure deemed a systemic risk.
Tradeoff
Mandates detailed disclosure of bank exam records, management failures, and regulatory shortcomings to Congress and the public. Allows regulators to redact sensitive customer data and consult with Congress before withholding materials on public-interest grounds.
What's in it
Increases federal administrative costs by less than $500,000 over the 2025-2035 period.
The $500,000 is just the federal cost for four agencies to add reporting requirements — the policy itself is a transparency mandate that imposes minimal direct federal spending but may slightly increase fees that banks pay to regulators.
