Veterans Community Care Scheduling Improvement Act
Requires VA to build an electronic system for scheduling veteran health care appointments within two years.
Tradeoff
Mandates a new scheduling system and staff training for the VA, with reporting requirements to Congress. No offsetting cuts or revenue measures identified in the bill.
What's in it
Adds $1 million to the deficit over 2026-2031 and reduces it by $4 million over 2026-2036.
The net federal cost is negligible ($1 million over six years and a small savings thereafter), with spending devoted primarily to VA system development, training, and outreach rather than direct benefit payments to veterans.
