Airmen Certificate Accessibility Act
Lets pilots show digital copies of airman and medical certificates to FAA inspectors.
Tradeoff
Pilots gain flexibility by using phones or cloud storage instead of carrying physical documents. The FAA must write new rules by November 2028 to set up security checks for digital copies.
What's in it
Costs $18 million over 2026-2031 for FAA software systems and to enable digital airman certificates.
This $18 million funds the Federal Aviation Administration's acquisition of new software systems to issue and maintain digital pilot certificates and the regulatory required to implement the program over six years.
