LEOSA Reform Act
Lets qualified law enforcement officers carry concealed firearms in school zones and national parks.
Tradeoff
Expands where active and retired officers can carry guns nationwide. Also lets states space out firearms training tests for retired officers to every three years instead of annually.
What's in it
No federal cost over 10 years (2025-2035).
The federal government has no significant budget cost to implement this law—the policy's real impact is regulatory preemption that restricts state, local, and private entities' ability to enforce their own firearms prohibitions, with no federal spending required to administer it.
The House passed this 229-193 on May 14, 2025 — now in the Senate.
