Lake Winnibigoshish Land Exchange Act of 2025
Directs the Forest Service to exchange land with a private company along Lake Winnibigoshish in Minnesota.
Tradeoff
The Forest Service gains about 36.7 acres near Lake Winnibigoshish. In exchange, it gives up about 17.5 acres of federal forest land to Big Winnie Land and Timber, LLC.
What's in it
Negligible impact on the deficit over 2026-2035, with costs between zero and $500,000.
The negligible federal cost reflects only the foregone permit revenue from the exchanged land; the policy's real impact is the transfer of federal forest acreage to private ownership in exchange for a larger private parcel, with the corporation covering all transaction costs.
