Deporting Fraudsters Act of 2026
Bars non-citizens convicted of public benefits fraud from entering or staying in the US.
Tradeoff
Makes benefit fraud a deportation ground for non-citizens. The CBO estimates negligible federal savings because existing law already covers most of these offenses.
What's in it
Negligible fiscal impact (between -$500,000 and $500,000) over 2026-2035.
The federal cost is negligible because the bill simply clarifies deportation grounds that largely already exist in law; the policy's real effect is on non-citizens who become subject to deportation based on fraud convictions or admissions.
The House passed this 231-186 on March 18, 2026 — now in the Senate.
