Sponsored by Thomas H. Kean (R)
Promoting United States Wireless Leadership Act of 2025
Requires the federal government to help US companies join international wireless standards-setting groups.
Tradeoff
Encourages participation in organizations that shape 5G and future wireless standards. Excludes companies deemed national security threats.
What's in it
Costs $5 million over 5 years (2025–2029) for federal administration and technical assistance.
The $5 million is the federal cost to run the NTIA's new technical assistance program—the policy's real impact is on which companies and standards bodies participate in wireless development, not a federal spending program.
