Critical Infrastructure Manufacturing Feasibility Act
Requires the Commerce Department to study which critical products could be made in the US.
Tradeoff
Costs about $2 million over five years for the study itself. Funds no factories or subsidies, so any follow-up action needs separate funding.
What's in it
Adds $2 million to federal spending over five years (2025-2029).
The $2 million funds the Department of Commerce to conduct feasibility studies on domestic manufacturing of imported critical infrastructure products and report findings to Congress — no program benefits or subsidies are included in this estimate.
Passed the House by on April 28, 2025. The Senate passed it by on September 23, 2026. It was then signed into law.
