GRID Power Act
Requires FERC to fast-track approval for fossil fuel power plants that boost grid reliability.
Tradeoff
Prioritizes fossil fuel projects in the interconnection queue to speed grid access. Renewable energy projects may face longer waits as a result.
What's in it
No estimated federal cost or deficit impact; any increase in FERC's workload would be offset by fee increases on regulated entities.
The $0 federal cost reflects that FERC's administrative expenses for implementing the new interconnection queue rules would be offset by fee increases charged to utilities and energy companies, so taxpayers bear no direct cost—the burden falls on the regulated entities that pay FERC fees.
