H.J.Res. 20 Signed into law

Sponsored by Gary J. Palmer (R)

Providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the Department of Energy relating to "Energy Conservation Program: Energy Conservation Standards for Consumer Gas-fired Instantaneous Water Heaters".

Nullifies the Department of Energy's rule raising efficiency standards for gas water heaters.

Tradeoff

Blocks a DOE rule that would have required gas-fired instantaneous water heaters to meet stricter energy efficiency standards. Manufacturers can continue selling models meeting the prior standard.
