Executive Order EO 14218
Close Ending Taxpayer Subsidization of Open Borders Signed Donald Trump · Feb 19, 2025
Directs federal agencies to stop providing taxpayer-funded benefits to people in the country illegally.
Does not create new legal authority; it directs agencies to enforce existing law (the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996). Implementation depends on Congress passing the annual bills that fund these agencies.
What it does (4) Preserving Federal Public Benefits Agencies must identify federally funded programs giving benefits to people in the country illegally and align them with existing law. Federal payments to states and cities must not facilitate illegal immigration or shield undocumented immigrants from deportation. Agencies must strengthen eligibility verification systems to exclude ineligible immigrants. Within 30 days, OMB and DOGE Service must find all federal funding sources for undocumented immigrants and recommend additional actions. Read it on the Federal Register
